For me yoga is not all about the physical asana, it’s about connecting my mind, body and spirit.

I started practicing during a time that I had forgotten how to breathe. I had back surgery on my L4 and L5, was getting sober again, and left a domestically violent relationship ( I call this the trifecta ). I desperately needed to find a way to reconnect myself not just to my breath, but to my body and spirit.

I started practicing during a time that I had forgotten how to breathe. I had back surgery on my L4 and L5, was getting sober again, and left a domestically violent relationship ( I call this the trifecta ). I desperately needed to find a way to reconnect myself not just to my breath, but to my body and spirit.

One day I finally listened to my surgeons and rolled out my mat for the first time. I could finally BREATHE, even if it was just for 5 minutes! After 6 months, I looked into becoming a yoga instructor. That is how my journey began.

Since then, my personal practice has switched from vinyasa to Ashtanga, to aid in my recovery. For me being a teacher is about being of service and helping those who are hurting physically, spiritually or emotionally, and using yoga to do so.

I can’t fix anybody, but I am more than willing to be a vessel. My desire is to help the community understand that it does not matter how well you “do yoga”, but that you practice consistently. In doing so, you will get results physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually ( if you are open to it).

I will hold space for the broken. I will hold space for those who need to feel acceptance. I will hold space for anyone who needs it and for whatever reason that may be.

My name is Steve, I am an E-RYT 200 hour certified Yoga Instructor.  I have been practicing yoga for over 12 years and been teaching for almost 8.  I am an Engineering Manager during the day, and a husband and father.  I absolutely love teaching Yoga. With my engineering background it is easy for me to understand the mechanics of the body and how this movement and alignment can enhance our yoga practice.  I enjoy teaching all styles of yoga, but my favorite is a slow Hatha style where I can focus on alignment of each pose.

I have been practicing traditional yoga on and off since college but found Buti Yoga 6 years ago when my youngest was about 6 months old.

The practice quickly became my soulmate movement and helped me get back to myself outside of the role of mother and continues to help me be a better person, parent, wife, and friend.
